The God of War presents himself as a mean, no funny business gym teacher, and lucky you, you're right in the middle of his class. Since the Arena of War is lost to the Time Fog, you're stuck doing drills at Avenger's Stadium. Expect to be put through sword fighting, take off and landing, shield practice, and of course the more mundane running laps and doing push ups. Magic is only to be used for shield practice, and anyone causing mischief will have to deal with Ares himself.

Doesn't mean you can't try, it just means it won't end well for you.

Avengers Assemble!

Octobots are attacking a lab space in downtown. Their target: a new chemical compound that is apparently more efficient in powering the wriggly bastards. Get to your assigned teams and get out there before they can make off with that compound, or the octopi will be having the city for dinner tonight!

And Director Fury doesn't give a damn if you don't like your teammates; work it out or don't, just get the job done.

Class is in session, and considering it's Professor Pym's class, it's probably going to blow up in a few minutes. It might be best to make sure your homework is finished and handed in before your lab mate goes for the chemical cabinet, because there's a high chance it'll be on fire otherwise. While your at it, be careful what you touch in the lab; you might end up having an electrifying experience.

...this lab has no safety precautions whatsoever, does it?

Sucks to be you; looks like you just got caught getting into things you shouldn't have been getting into, and the All Father himself found out about it. Now you're stuck in detention in the Timeless Archives, whittling away at a report that no superhero deserves to be put through. It doesn't look like Odin stuck around to make sure you finish it, though; is it worth risking the All Father's ire just to get a few hours on the dance floor at Club A?

[ Yu carefully pulled himself out from under the desk, staring mournfully at the exploded experiment. He wasn't the only one at least, and Professor Pym was the only one that seemed delighted by all the destruction. ]

[ There was a teasing tone in Yu's voice, though; along with a bit of a playful glint in his eyes. ]

Really? You've talked to him before?

[Professor Pym was a sort of danger to everyone but with the best intentions.]

Yeah, we could be covered in whatever resulted from that experiment and totally get screwed over in our grades.

....You haven't? I mean go ahead. He is hardwired through the tower. Say hello.

[ She waved a hand up to nothing in particular, but toward the general direction of the tower. JARVIS isn't quite as advanced as he will be in the future. As with all of Stark's creations, new or old, they seem to maintain bits and pieces of his personality. ]

[He doesn't, but Hibiki was trying to lighten the mood a little...

He nods, though, and charges with his practice sword. He takes a swing--it's a little clumsy, but he's doing his best to mimic Yu's movements from earlier.]

Well, I stopped wearing my favorite hoodie to this class for a reason.

[... Never mind that the ears on the hood were a likely hazard anyway.]

That'd be great, if it'd be no trouble.

Well, let's put it in perspective...we get into so much trouble that the cleaning equipment includes this level of protection.

What's your name? [Phil lights his arms to shake but it's more squeaks than actual actions]

[Bitch-sensei would probably be all over the poor guy. He actually sounds a little bit like Karasuma, even. So not at all bad, just....a character. He glances over the other's books.]

You're interested in military tactics?

Kinda, yeah! I was kind of the lead strategist in my unit, so Boss started me off reading about them... and before I knew it, I was looking up more of my own accord!

Stuff that could be applied on a smaller scale was more useful then, but the big stuff is fascinating.

[...He should probably get used to everyone here having as weird a life as his, huh? Unit, lead strategist... Sounds like this guy was pretty much a soldier even before he got here. Well then.]

Have you looked much into Hannibal's tactics?

[Even with that wording, Hibiki would probably deny being a straight-up soldier if asked. Less a soldier, more of a ragtag misfit who got roped into fighting aliens.

Hannibal... Hannibal of Carthage, you mean? Not extensively, I'll admit. But he's on the list.

[It's a good thing Fuwa isn't here, we like our fourth wall intact.]

[Or at least cracked rather than punctured.]

Huh! I'll have to look into him, then. Could be useful... Having a big library like the one here makes studying this kind of stuff a lot easier.

Having easy access to a library at all is pretty nice...

[Without having to reserve a table, fight tooth and nail to defend the reservation, keep the distractions to a minimum to optimize study time while other students actively try to sabotage.... Nagisa frowns briefly. He hopes his classmates - former classmates, he has to remind himself - are doing alright.]

Kunugigaoka Junior High.... It's a well-known private school in Tokyo. It's...a little different than its reputation.

[Nobody outside the school talks about the discrimination. It's obvious why: if word got out, it wouldn't stand, and Asano couldn't have that. There's a reason even the students of Class E don't reveal the extent of it.]

Yeah, I've heard of Kunugigaoka... My parents wanted to send me there but we couldn't really afford it. [He leans back in his chair, leaving it to precariously teeter on its back legs.] Different how?

[Yeah, the price tag keeps a lot of students out. It's probably for the better, considering the damage the system does...]

My mom was determined to send me there, despite the price. It's...a little complicated. Asano-san created a system in which ninety-give percent of students achieve way higher results than normal at the expense of the five percent who don't.
