The God of War presents himself as a mean, no funny business gym teacher, and lucky you, you're right in the middle of his class. Since the Arena of War is lost to the Time Fog, you're stuck doing drills at Avenger's Stadium. Expect to be put through sword fighting, take off and landing, shield practice, and of course the more mundane running laps and doing push ups. Magic is only to be used for shield practice, and anyone causing mischief will have to deal with Ares himself.

Doesn't mean you can't try, it just means it won't end well for you.

Avengers Assemble!

Octobots are attacking a lab space in downtown. Their target: a new chemical compound that is apparently more efficient in powering the wriggly bastards. Get to your assigned teams and get out there before they can make off with that compound, or the octopi will be having the city for dinner tonight!

And Director Fury doesn't give a damn if you don't like your teammates; work it out or don't, just get the job done.

Class is in session, and considering it's Professor Pym's class, it's probably going to blow up in a few minutes. It might be best to make sure your homework is finished and handed in before your lab mate goes for the chemical cabinet, because there's a high chance it'll be on fire otherwise. While your at it, be careful what you touch in the lab; you might end up having an electrifying experience.

...this lab has no safety precautions whatsoever, does it?

Sucks to be you; looks like you just got caught getting into things you shouldn't have been getting into, and the All Father himself found out about it. Now you're stuck in detention in the Timeless Archives, whittling away at a report that no superhero deserves to be put through. It doesn't look like Odin stuck around to make sure you finish it, though; is it worth risking the All Father's ire just to get a few hours on the dance floor at Club A?

Okay, so this really isn't what I had in mind when I said today could use some more excitement.

[One minute, it's hanging out in Club A, low-key complaining about boredom, and the next it's all hands on deck. Hibiki lets out a breathy, nervous laugh as he runs a hand through his hair. He adjusts his gloves, pulls a pair of goggles over his eyes, and turns to his current teammates.]

Let's get moving, everyone! Let's make sure these things don't even get to that compound!

[He's not sure if his teammates are even going to listen to him as he tries to take charge like this, but damn if it isn't worth a shot.]

[Another day, another explosion. At this rate, Hibiki thinks he needs to start carrying around copies of his homework. Or get a fireproof folder to carry it in.

He's at least managed to keep anything from catching on fire so far, but who's to say how long that'll last. ... He's already preparing a pair of safety goggles, though. Hibiki's turning to whoever happens to be closest to whisper--

(it's more of a stage whisper really, but with how noisy the place is, it might as well be an ordinary whisper)]

So, how long do you think it'll take for something to blow up this time?

[Of course, everyone needs some time to relax in between class and heroics. If anyone's looking for Hibiki during some downtime, he's easily caught in the lounge area in front of the dorm, the quad, or Club A, fiddling with his phone or tapping away at his laptop. It's easy to get his attention for something or other and unless someone's trying to sneak up on him, he'll be looking up from what he's doing when they approach.]

[one: some assembly required]

[Another day, another supervillain attack, and this time, it's octobots. Han can hardly believe it--his first time reluctantly going into battle with these bozos and this is what happens: pinned down behind an overturned car, shooting down octobots and cursing Nick Fury's name to the high heavens. If this is the price he pays for protection from Jabba and his cronies, he's rapidly reconsidering the danger of just going to see Jabba himself.

He shoots down another eight-legged robot, then ducks back down behind the car.]

Got a brilliant plan cooking up your sleeve or anything? [There may be some bite to his tone now.]

[two: play that funky music]

[Shouldn't Han be in detention? Yeah, he should be, but the lure of Club A is just too strong, and besides, he knows how to sneak in and out of detention already, having been there enough times over the course of his stay. Mostly for escaping detention in the first place, but shush.

He's not actually dancing, though. If somebody invites him onto the dance floor, it's not as if he'll turn them down, but right now it looks like he's mostly just enjoying the drinks. It's as if he's waiting on someone to show up.

Spoilers: he's not, it's just old habit--he used to wait in seedy bars and dangerous places a lot for potential clients looking to have something smuggled through, and even now it's hard to break the habit. He's thus going to be somewhat surprised when somebody walks up to him, but recover quickly and raise his glass to them in a toast.]

What's up?

[Have another idea for running into Han? Toss it in here!]

[Working on his beat-up old ~~hunk of junk~~ car has made Han appreciative of various safety implements, such as: safety goggles, fireproof gloves, and pincers. So of course he's got those for classes at Pym's, because Pym has no concept of the word safety and at this point, Han's not sure what's more dangerous: showing back up at the doorstep of a supervillain who he owes a huge amount of money to, or Hank Pym's classes.

At least he's got a lab partner this time.]

I'm giving it--two minutes, tops. [Which is an unrealistically optimistic expectation, but then, he hasn't been here very long and he doesn't plan on staying.]

[Hibiki's sigh is a touch exasperated as he puts the goggles on. He hasn't been here long himself, but...]

I give it a minute and a half. Maybe we'll be let out early if it's a big enough explosion? [He sincerely doubts it, but it's worth hoping.]

If it's a big enough explosion, I'm pretty sure we're not gonna be around to enjoy being let out early. [Nothing like a good dose of gallows humor, huh? He sighs, then puts his safety goggles over his eyes.] All right, hand me the giant tweezer and look busy. [It's called forceps, Han.]

... Fair enough. [He hands over the forceps without further comment, then turns his attention to the papers that go with this particular lab, scanning them with just enough interest to look like he's doing something.

And he's trying to brace himself for the inevitable so he doesn't jump out of his skin when the explosion actually happens.

Or at least, that's the hope. Honestly, the explosion is probably still going to catch him off guard anyway.]

[Han is very carefully transferring the rock (at least he's pretty sure it's a rock, it's glowing a lot and he is kind of terrified) when he hears the explosion just a table or two away. Probably some unfortunate kid fucking up and singing his eyebrows off in the ensuing explosion, but it's loud enough that Han curses, dropping the glowing rock onto the table.

That--doesn't look good. He grabs hold of Hibiki's arm to pull him backwards with him, eyes on the rock as it glows and glows, blackening the surface of the table underneath it.]

Is it supposed to do that?

Oh jeez--!

[Hibiki will mourn that poor sap's eyebrows later, right now the rock is being dropped and he is being pulled back and he's... honestly kind of staring at the glowing rock in mild horror. He's seen some crap but that's... that's definitely new.]

I... I'm not sure I want to know whether or not it is. What the hell.

[ Yu didn't mind working with Solo -- he was a pretty nice guy, despite the brash front that he put up. What he did mind was the fact that he was actually put out on a mission like this in the first place. He still wasn't that great when it came to using his abilities in the real world, as anyone that was in his magic class knew intimately well. Not only that, but he was the idiot to bring a katana to a fight with a metallic robot. ]

[ He flinched slightly as the octobot Han shot hit the ground, before turning his head slightly, trying not to look as uneasy as he felt at the moment. ]

...I could try to blast them?

[ Yu ended up flinching again as the leg of an octobot came slamming down into the ground uncomfortably close. ]

Though there's a chance I'll hurt us too.

[ Fortunately her english is still good enough to work through the language barrier at the Academy, but this isn't her first time trying to blend into the surroundings. Like the tides of her element, she is quite malleable when she puts her mind to it. That is until someone startles her out of her revere and Michiru drops a vial that promptly sends sparks across the counter.

Lifting up a small hand held mirror off to her side, she facing it toward the sparks and wisps of water drown them out as she sighs. ]

I wanted to be optimistic and guess five minutes, but I'm afraid the currents won't be shifting in our favor. [ As frustrated as she is, she sets her mirror back down with ease and straightens herself up. ] Maybe coming here wasn't such a good idea.

[Han's seen Yu around on campus a few times, even worked with him in some classes--guy's not half-bad, if a little out of his depth. Or a lot out of his depth, who brings a goddamn katana to a robot fight? Then again, it's not like Han's got room to talk, all he has with him is a blaster he stole off Jabba's armory on his way out of the supervillain's lair.

He shoots out the octobot's leg, then, for good measure, shoots it again.]

Blast them--I think I've got an idea. [He peeks up.] Charge at them and blast them at close range. Or put that sword of yours to good use. I'll cover you.

[He jumps a little when Michiru drops the vial and offers her a look in apology. He didn't mean to startle her like that...]

Hey, maybe we'll be lucky today. [Hibiki's not counting on it though.] I feel like we'd be fine if literally anyone else was teaching this class...

He is . . .[ She clears her throat looking sheepish. ] a little on the eccentric side, yes.

[ Spontaneous, she can deal with. Eccentricity reminds her far too much of Tomoe, but she pushes those thoughts out of her mind. ]

Are you any good at this? [ A wave of a hand toward the chemistry set in front of them. ]

[Aaand now it's on fire. A second or two later, it manages to burn a hole through the surface. Han makes a small, choked noise that sounds vaguely like, what in the hell, and steps back again, as if preparing for an imminent explosion.]

Don't know what it's gonna do, don't care, I think it's probably gonna blow--

1.) Let's Fake A Training Montage
[ Yu was distracted for a moment from training, turning his head to where Ares was preoccupied with yelling at a student that had shot an arrow off as he was passing by, nearly hitting the God of War in the face. A sympathetic look came to his face as he watched the student cower in utter terror, before turning his attention back to his partner, giving them an apologetic look as he hefted the training sword he was holding. ]

Well... are you ready for this?

2.) Bonding In Warm Water
[Stark was fairly adamant about, "only the ladies," being able to use the hot tub on the roof of his building, but the common baths in the dorms were all taken up, and last he checked, Stark was busy studying about historic women. It was a little creepy, since he had apparently been doing it for hours, but that meant it would just be J.A.R.V.I.S. at Stark Tower, and that was a computer that knew how to keep a secret. ]

[ Yu crept all the way up to the roof, marveling for a moment the sheer size of the hot tub. He started toward to strip down, paranoia that he was going to get caught any second crawling up his spine. Of course, as soon as he set foot in the water, he ended up nearly jumping out of his skin as the roof let out a loud bang, before it began to open up, exposing the hot tub to the open air. He let out a squeak before he could stop himself, throwing himself the rest of the way into the water and hoping no one heard or worse, saw him. ]

[Hibiki's grabbing his bag and giving the rock.... or whatever it is a wide berth.]

Crap, crap, crap, take cover--! [Hibiki is finding something sturdy to... maybe ensure he doesn't get hurt. Hopefully.]

( Downtown )

Submarine Reflection!

[ A surge of energy knocks one octobot clear into a wall making a decent dent in the concrete after Michiru finally gets her incantation to work along with her mirror. She seems extremely pleased with herself, smiling even with a soft giggle of her own. ]

It worked! [ She slipped into japanese out of habit, but was quickly brought right back to reality dodging a metal arm coming her way. Clearly still having a lot to learn her dodge sends her smashing right into another student also sent out on this mission. ]

I'll apologize later just give me your hand. [ She reaches out to them. Once they grab a hold (if they do) she will pull them back up to their feet along with her. ] Why are there so many?

( Avengers Stadium )

[ Michiru hated outdoor sports with an intense passion regardless of how effortless her skills were at next to all the events she applied herself to--except for sword fighting. She couldn't nail the stance, even with Haruka's confident maneuvers clear in her mind.

She wasn't even holding a double-edge blade correctly. ]

Don't hold back on me. [ Adjusting her footing, she might be able to pull this off. . .assuming she doesn't cut herself first. ] I'm capable of keeping up. [ That's her pride talking. Maybe Haruka was rubbing off on her. She'd never be a fit Guardian if she couldn't get through basic training. ]

[He gives a snort. Clearly, 'eccentric' is not the word he'd have picked.]

I'd say passable enough, but science isn't really my thing.

[Stark Tower is laughably easy to stroll into. That, he thinks, is the point, but anyway--Han's taking advantage of Tony's slightly creepy preoccupation with historical figures to creep into his tower and chat up JARVIS about modifications to the Millennium Falcon, the beat-up ~~garbage heap~~ old car currently sitting somewhere on campus.]

Look, I ain't asking for rockets strapped to the engines or a suit, I just want something that can help with smuggling-- [--bang.] What was that?

[JARVIS is probably answering him right now, but Han's already taking off towards the rooftop. He pushes the door open and--blinks.]

Uh. Yu?

[ For a moment, Yu felt uncertain, and he glanced between Han and the octobot looming every closer. It wasn't like what he was used to fighting, but then again, he was used to fighting things that couldn't exist in the real world. Then again, who counted on robots with eight metal tentacles being a thing? ]

[ Yu took a deep breath, before darting out from cover and toward the bot. Lightning charged the air around him as he ran, before he launched a Zio spell as close to the thing's "face" as he could. The robot reared, tentacles flailing as it struggled to regain its balance. ]

[... Yikes. Suddenly, Hibiki's glad he's not practicing with a bow.

He still has an unfamiliar weapon in his hands, and, all things considered, he'd really rather not be using it. Yeah, yeah, broaden your horizons and all, but it's a little harder to disarm someone who's just using their fists. Hibiki offers Yu a smile that's more confident than he feels as he hefts up his own training sword.]

Ready as I'll ever be, I guess!

[ Yu let out a scream somewhere between girlish and utterly terrified, ducking down into the water as far as he could and still have his head visible. That way Han could still see the most ridiculously guilty look on his face still. ]

S-Solo-san. Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you.

[ Even when caught doing something he shouldn't, he was still polite to a fault. ]

[Han doesn't even have a bag to go back for, but he ducks behind another table just as the rock (or whatever) explodes. Spectacularly. There's probably an impromptu fireworks display going for a few brief moments.

Then, slowly, he pokes his head up.]

--I got a bad feeling about your grades, kid. [he says at last, sounding slightly apologetic. Yeah, this one's on him, probably.]

[ Loki could care less whether Stark wanted anyone near the hot tub or not. Honestly, if he wanted women Loki could technically be one--and almost as if to rub it is he happened to have the form right now--but JARVIS was directing his attention elsewhere. Such as the idiot who probably broke the top to the hot tub and was now throwing himself in.

He opened the sliding glass door, looking particularly unamused with Yu. ]

If you're going to sneak in, Narukami, you might want to be a little quieter. [ And anyway move over. Loki plans on enjoy the water too. Leave it to the Academy to surround him with idiot classmates. It's wonder how he manages day to day--well Jan is good motivation also with very ~~horrible~~ nice swimsuit she gave him for such occasions. ]

[Similarly, Hibiki's peering over the edge of the table he was using as cover, letting out a soft sigh as he scans the remains of the work area.]

Well, it's not like science was my strong point anyway...
