Test Drive Meme!

TEST DRIVE
» » » 07.11.16

Welcome to Avenger Academy RP's first ever Test Drive meme! This is for people to test out their characters, and get a feel for how they will work in this AU setting. Please read the Rules, and keep in mind that the first round is for people on the mod's Plurk only, though you are still free to post in preperation for next round. If you have any questions, please check the FAQ for answers, and leave questions there if they are not already answered.

» » » Ares

The God of War presents himself as a mean, no funny business gym teacher, and lucky you, you're right in the middle of his class. Since the Arena of War is lost to the Time Fog, you're stuck doing drills at Avenger's Stadium. Expect to be put through sword fighting, take off and landing, shield practice, and of course the more mundane running laps and doing push ups. Magic is only to be used for shield practice, and anyone causing mischief will have to deal with Ares himself.

Doesn't mean you can't try, it just means it won't end well for you.

Avengers Assemble!

Octobots are attacking a lab space in downtown. Their target: a new chemical compound that is apparently more efficient in powering the wriggly bastards. Get to your assigned teams and get out there before they can make off with that compound, or the octopi will be having the city for dinner tonight!

And Director Fury doesn't give a damn if you don't like your teammates; work it out or don't, just get the job done.

» » » Hank Pym

Class is in session, and considering it's Professor Pym's class, it's probably going to blow up in a few minutes. It might be best to make sure your homework is finished and handed in before your lab mate goes for the chemical cabinet, because there's a high chance it'll be on fire otherwise. While your at it, be careful what you touch in the lab; you might end up having an electrifying experience.

...this lab has no safety precautions whatsoever, does it?

» » » Odin

Sucks to be you; looks like you just got caught getting into things you shouldn't have been getting into, and the All Father himself found out about it. Now you're stuck in detention in the Timeless Archives, whittling away at a report that no superhero deserves to be put through. It doesn't look like Odin stuck around to make sure you finish it, though; is it worth risking the All Father's ire just to get a few hours on the dance floor at Club A?

[He's pretty sure Ares is just making fun of him now.

Nagisa's training partner has a stockier build and at least six inches on him. It'd be like...fighting Karma. Yeah, there's no way he's getting out of this without a few bruises. He lifts his own training sword awkwardly. It's a very different balance from the knives he's used to, and he can't be as swift or agile with it.

Not that he's complaining. Knives and guns are his forte, but knowledge is power.]

Yeah, let's do this.

[ To Nagisa's credit, he was so tiny, Yu was more worried about breaking him in half than him falling over and getting bruised up. He got it, some students were younger and more brilliant than others, but did they all have to go through the same gym classes? ]

[ Yu let out a breath after a moment, switching his grip on his sword. ]

Why don't you take a few practice swings at me?

[The fact some people can fly or sling magic around is the main difference from Karasuma's gym classes. Nagisa is getting the feeling the fact he's already been trained in the basics of parkour is going to save him many a trip to the infirmary...]

I'm used to smaller weapons. Here I come! [Even rough and unpracticed, he's quick. Good balance, too, but there's very little power in his swing - far more than one would expect from someone his size, certainly, but he just isn't very strong comparatively. As long as Yu can see where he's coming from, he should have no trouble blocking.]

[ Yu can definitely block him easily and he does, stepping slightly to the side as he did so. He nudged back, not hard, but just enough to get across the message to go back and try again. ]

[Alright, so that's how this feels... It'll definitely take time and a lot of effort, but he could learn to do this. Notably, Nagisa's eyes aren't on what he's doing, or even on Yu's sword. They're on the older teen's chest, on his feet, on his eyes.

His next swings are slower, but he's trying out chaining a few together. The first strike is important, yes, but the second and third are just as important, because the first could be dodged or blocked. Always have a second blade. Always have a backup plan. and a backup backup. That's how the pros do things. Three strikes this time.

Again, there isn't enough power to make him a real threat, especially since he's taking this slower. His footing needs work, and he's probably got openings by the dozen, if Yu wants to counter.]
linefacingforever: (Proud of all his friends.)

[ Yu couldn't help but smile to himself. He was really focused; it was refreshing to see, really. He let him go through the motions, meeting him with each strike, until he decided to mix things up a little. With one parried hit, he let his sword slide along his and pivoting on his foot, taking advantage of Nagisa's poor footwork to come up behind him and tap his rear with the flat of his blade. ]
