Test Drive Meme!
TEST DRIVE
» » » 07.11.16

Welcome to Avenger Academy RP's first ever Test Drive meme! This is for people to test out their characters, and get a feel for how they will work in this AU setting. Please read the Rules, and keep in mind that the first round is for people on the mod's Plurk only, though you are still free to post in preperation for next round. If you have any questions, please check the FAQ for answers, and leave questions there if they are not already answered.

The God of War presents himself as a mean, no funny business gym teacher, and lucky you, you're right in the middle of his class. Since the Arena of War is lost to the Time Fog, you're stuck doing drills at Avenger's Stadium. Expect to be put through sword fighting, take off and landing, shield practice, and of course the more mundane running laps and doing push ups. Magic is only to be used for shield practice, and anyone causing mischief will have to deal with Ares himself.
Doesn't mean you can't try, it just means it won't end well for you.

Avengers Assemble!
Octobots are attacking a lab space in downtown. Their target: a new chemical compound that is apparently more efficient in powering the wriggly bastards. Get to your assigned teams and get out there before they can make off with that compound, or the octopi will be having the city for dinner tonight!
And Director Fury doesn't give a damn if you don't like your teammates; work it out or don't, just get the job done.
» » » Hank Pym
Class is in session, and considering it's Professor Pym's class, it's probably going to blow up in a few minutes. It might be best to make sure your homework is finished and handed in before your lab mate goes for the chemical cabinet, because there's a high chance it'll be on fire otherwise. While your at it, be careful what you touch in the lab; you might end up having an electrifying experience.
...this lab has no safety precautions whatsoever, does it?
» » » Odin
Sucks to be you; looks like you just got caught getting into things you shouldn't have been getting into, and the All Father himself found out about it. Now you're stuck in detention in the Timeless Archives, whittling away at a report that no superhero deserves to be put through. It doesn't look like Odin stuck around to make sure you finish it, though; is it worth risking the All Father's ire just to get a few hours on the dance floor at Club A?

It's still better than most... hmm. You'd be a middle-schooler still back home, right? [He's ball-parking it based on the lower limit on ages here. Sorry, Nagisa, you look pretty darn young!]
no subject
And yeah. But the American school system switches grades in summer, so I guess I'm in high school now. [At least Hibiki didn't say elementary school. Nagisa's gotten that before. Short...]
no subject
The American school system is weird. [A sentence he punctuates with a sagely nod.
... And to be entirely fair to Nagisa, Hibiki's worked with a high-school-aged guy who was barely taller...]
i don't have enough smiling icons
Isn't it? This is still ninth grade, so I guess I'll have a couple extra months of being a ninth grader, in the end. ...Having Saturdays off is nice, though.
no subject
Haha, right? I like having another day to do... non-school stuff. [He's putting back the book on WWII he swiped before pulling a couple of his own books from his bag--though these are books on military tactics rather than history.]
So hey, what's your name, anyway? Mine's Kuze-- [He takes a moment, clears his throat, then gives a sheepish look. Looks like someone almost forgot he should probably use western order there...] Hibiki Kuze!
no subject
Nagisa Shiota. Nice to meet you. [He's already well-practiced with this part.] You're still pretty new, huh?
no subject
I've just been here a month or so. I was supposed to be over here earlier but Director Fury-- [man what a silly last name, but he's not saying that part out loud] --kind of had a tough time negotiating with... ah, I guess you could call him my old boss? For me to be brought here.
no subject
Two weeks for me. I wonder if Japanese transfers are common... One of my teachers arranged this for me, it's a little complicated. [And he's not allowed to talk about it. ...He thinks. Does that still apply?] Your old boss, huh? The stubborn type?
no subject
He really didn't want to give me up, I am... was? Kind of his favorite for some reason.
no subject
no subject
[He shrugs, sighing a little.] Boss isn't a bad guy, just... kind of stubborn, little bit of a control freak. Really particular about the people he trusts with stuff. A little lacking in the social graces department. [A beat.] ... Really lacking in the social graces department.
[Funny how Hibiki seemed kind of fond throughout that entire description... in an exasperated kind of way, at least.]
no subject
[Bitch-sensei would probably be all over the poor guy. He actually sounds a little bit like Karasuma, even. So not at all bad, just....a character. He glances over the other's books.]
You're interested in military tactics?
no subject
Stuff that could be applied on a smaller scale was more useful then, but the big stuff is fascinating.
no subject
Have you looked much into Hannibal's tactics?
no subject
This is probably the part where Fuwa would comment something about that ragtag bunch of misfits fighting a huge threat thing being common in shounen manga...]Hannibal... Hannibal of Carthage, you mean? Not extensively, I'll admit. But he's on the list.
no subject
Yeah. I have a friend who's an avid student of his work.
no subject
Huh! I'll have to look into him, then. Could be useful... Having a big library like the one here makes studying this kind of stuff a lot easier.
no subject
[Without having to reserve a table, fight tooth and nail to defend the reservation, keep the distractions to a minimum to optimize study time while other students actively try to sabotage.... Nagisa frowns briefly. He hopes his classmates - former classmates, he has to remind himself - are doing alright.]
no subject
[That's almost alarming... Sure, JP's didn't have all that extensive of a library, but it was at least free to be accessed by all the members...]
no subject
[It was bad.]
Unofficially my class wasn't really welcome.
no subject
no subject
[Nobody outside the school talks about the discrimination. It's obvious why: if word got out, it wouldn't stand, and Asano couldn't have that. There's a reason even the students of Class E don't reveal the extent of it.]
no subject
no subject
My mom was determined to send me there, despite the price. It's...a little complicated. Asano-san created a system in which ninety-give percent of students achieve way higher results than normal at the expense of the five percent who don't.
no subject
[Part of him's honestly not sure he actually wants to know but the other part of him's teeming with morbid curiosity, like an onlooker at a terrible wreck.]
